"Creation of piece of Art Work representing local food & agriculture in our cities around the world for usage on promotionnal materials, manuals and website."
... says the contract.
This is the same clients than the one I did this for:
[link]
They actually wanted a relative match of the poster, so they could use them together.
This contract was way more complex.
Even the theme was more challenging.
After few meetings with the clients, we decided to go with a poster that would be split in two, the top part would represent agriculture and urbanisation in Cuba, while the bottom part would show the same theme in Canada, in fact, in British Columbia.
I was given hundreds of pictures to sort and choose as "models", and a relative amount of freedom was also given to me.
I drew the poster in Illustrator, also used some clip arts I own, modified them all massively, put the entire thing together and went back to the client.
We made 3 levels of modifications for each parts of the poster, adding some 80 hours of work.
It was on a very tight deadline, and the total amount of work was 300 hours, which is from far the most I ever put for a single piece.

Even thou I own the copyright, the client got the native ai file, which allows them to use details for separate pubication.
I also created some 100 files of libraries for them, just to make it easy.
I do like to please my clients.

And so, they were thrilled with the result.
This project has drained me beyond what I thought it could, but I do feel really good about it now that it is over, he he he...

I plan on taking a break from side contracts for few weeks, so I can chill a little.
Right bellow are the Tech/Specs for whomever is interested.
I would like to add that the full view is a MUST people, overwise, you really don't see anything, and that the file is huge, so be patient, or get broadband connection.
Have yourself some really good time.
Cheers.

To say Urban Agriculture Poster2 by *spaceboys is a complex piece of vector art would be an understatement. Such rich color and vibrancy bring this wonderful illustration to life. (Suggested by ~blindfive and Featured by `voodoo-prophet)

Fuckin' A+ Dude!

Wow!

You have outdone yourself.

So many details, elements. Love the blend between the two cultures, seperated by, perhaps, a symbolic river. A thin watershed of difference between two worlds. It has such a happy, positive feel. And the colours, textures!

Incredible. You have such a unique style. If I saw this somewhere, thousands of miles away - I'd know it's yours. It has a very definate Foliosque vision and quality to it.

I could go on and on. But I blather.

Fantastico! :winner:

I Love deadlines, especially the 'wooshing' noise as they go flying by.

It's cause you're a MANIAC!
This piece is freakin amazing!
It shows soooo much diversity and illustrates the lifestyle between our cultures.
Holy moly!
:iconnawras:
Holy........ camel....... I mean..... this...... buh?

That's it, now I know who I will be dedicating my next piece to!!! I'm serious! Great coloring by the way... and... damn it I've never been this speechless! Maybe tomorrow I can comment properly!!!

Why don't you also give my blog a spin?
:iconmyklmagus:
It is amazing, Space.
I am amazed at the amount of focus and time that you spent on this piece.
I think it could be a piece for the magazine, perhaps near the interview with Tim.
The writing that goes along with it is inspiring, and as an editor I look at it and see what needs to be edited. Rich, bright colours in Cuba and gothic colours and architecture in Canada nicely highlight the differences between the two cultures/landscapes. The detail is intense.

How many more hours did you work on it after we last met?

Have a good couple of days off.

Lots of love; talk to you soon.

I have a massive photo journal from my trip to show you with some great prints.

You fucking are the best!
I can't wait to be working with you again.

I couldn't say how much more hours I did work, but all togehter it was a little more than 300.
Chris said that the 1st week we moved in together, in 7 days I had put at least 100 hours of work.
So, here we go!

I think that is a brilliant idea about putting the piece beside Tim's interview!
But I will need to talk to Jancinda about it.
Even thou I own the copyright, those guys hve some very special rights on that contract.
But I got a great relationship with her, he he he.... So, we'll see.

the piece is freakin MASSIVE man!
Your book is freakin inspiring man, one of the best I ever read!

When are you back?
On the 30st?

Have you been to London?
I know how much you  the emoticons, ah ah ah....

Patrick, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
This is a powerful comment, and I do appreciate that beyond words.

My ego loves it, but the more important part of myself can read what you wrote, and that is real good!

And of course, concept wise, you got it all.

Things are turning positive now.
It's hard and challenging, but I see sun.
And you know what?
i haven't seen it in so long that I had truly forgotten how it was.

People don't know me.
But you do.
It's amazing, isn't it?

i wish we could go and party together man!
maybe in 2005.

Love to you and your family!

love love love the kaddy korner fruit and veggie borders  and the modernity of this is obvious with the flat look to the subjects and the big planes of color - love the intensity of the color like the plethora of color in fruits/veggies too - i am reminded of some Gaugin tahiti paintings in parts of this
